Red hair?!

I have been considering coloring my hair red for quite some time and today I finally did it. I must admit, I got incredibly nervous while I was doing it. So much I had to call Chelsea in the middle of it to make sure I was doing it correctly--good thing I called! It sure is scary when your hands are covered in purple dye and you have no idea how the purple makes your hair red! Once I rinsed it out and looked in the mirror before blow drying I got so worried I had to ask Skyler to come and tell me what he thought, all he could say was, "It looks red!" We both think it looks nice. Not a bright red-red but it is a darker red color. We will see what people say tomorrow!

Visit to D.C.

It was great to go see Ashley, Nathan, and new baby Easton. We had a ton of fun. We were able to enjoy a good amount of time together catching up. We also went to the Smithsonian National Zoo. D.C. has so much to offer. It was great to be with good friends and to celebrate their new baby, a very handsome baby too.

We also went to Hershey PA on our way down to D.C. There was so much to do there that we didn't even know about. We did the free factory tour and were sure to buy a few "souvenirs" ...aka yummy chocolate!

Every girls dream...a world of chocolate!

cape cod & research...

We haven't posted for a while. We went to Cape Cod for the long weekend and had a blast. I really love the beach, it is tough being so far away from the coast, but we made the 7 hour drive this weekend. It was beautiful! It was really neat to go to the beach again (yes, it is just as cold as the Oregon Coast) and play in the waves.

Sky and I realized that we aren't the most talented when it comes to being spontaneous. It was really last minute that we decided to go, so we packed in 15 mins and left a ton of stuff at home. It added to the excitement though. We spent the first 2 nights without light because we forgot flashlights and matches. It was exciting though--made for lots of laughs and creativity. We even forgot to bring paper plates, so we ate our delicious fire-grilled dinner on a cereal box! It was a hoot, we were pretty proud of our ingenuity over the weekend.

While we were on Cape Cod we went to the Pilgrim Monument and museum. We also went to a lighthouse and windmill. It was really fun to be around such old architecture and artifacts.

Once we got back into town on Monday, we went right back to work. Since I am taking courses that are packed into 5 weeks, I have a lot of homework and projects due each day. Skyler started researching for Professor Henderson. He has been enjoying it and has been able to put in a substantial amount of time this week.

Ashley and Nathan welcomed baby Easton into the world yesterday morning. 7lbs. 11oz. 21.5 inches. They are all doing well, Ashley didn't have many terrible complications, but is gratetful for epidurals that work (unlike the first one they gave her). We will be going to see them soon. I can't wait!

Ocean water was a little chillier than I remembered at first :)

It took a bit of convincing Sky that the cold water was worth the fun...but then we ran in together and got soaked! What a blast, we laughed and went back for more!

our garden...

We decided to plant a little patio garden to help us be a bit more self-sufficient and healthy. I planted yellow squash, cucumber, spring mix lettuce, tomato, strawberries, cilantro, and chives. So we should be able to enjoy some nice fresh veggies. Half of them I did with plants because it is later in the season and the others with seeds. It is pretty fun.

grades are in...

So close to a 4.0, it is a 3.92...I can handle one A-. I am rather pleased with my scores, I hope I can continue with high scores for the rest of my program.

tagged...7 random things...

1. After we are all settled, me and my old college roommates are going to open a restaurant named, Franchesca's, after Mollie's painting that hung in our living room. We have even started the menu!

2. Before moving to NY I had never visited anywhere east of Grand Junction, Colorado.

3. My dad voted for Reagan the day I was born--also my dad's 21st birthday.

4. My husband only calls me babycakes when we are arguing and he wants to get my attention.

5. When I was homesick while I was doing my undergrad, I checked out "The Little Engine That Could" from the children's library and read it because my mom always read it to me when I was little.
6. I used to count every step I took on stairs until about 3 months ago (a little OCD, eh?)

7. When I was anorexic, there were 2 things I would eat...whole milk and spoonfuls of shortening dipped in sugar. Disgusting, I know. I can't believe I did that.

nothing to do and loving it

Skyler and I both finished our last finals on Tuesday. It was great to finish at the same time. We went to lunch to celebrate and then to see Spiderman 3 (thanks to LexisNexis). It was great to just enjoy time together and not have any specific plans.

Skyler hasn't been able to keep track of which day it is since school finished up. It is pretty interesting to watch him try to figure out what to do with free time. We went to a dinner party with a bunch of law students on Wednesday and had friends over to watch a movie. Then we spent Thursday throwing a bbq for all of the LDS law families and friends. It was fun but sad to have to say goodbye to all of our law friends for the summer.

Today has been great. I haven't done anything productive all day long. Skyler has been reading all day for the writing competition, but I have been able to relax after work and lounge around the house. The only thing I have to accomplish today is 30mins of working out! I have to cherish this free time because it will all come to an end on Wednesday.
