Two Years...and a thesis...

Manti Temple, April 28, 2006

Today is our second year anniversary. Doesn't seem like long, does it? Really we were talking about how it doesn't seem like we have been together for as long as two years might sound to a few people. Good thing, because we have eternity together.

We didn't have much time to celebrate today. Skyler is in the middle of finals and I am in the middle of my first solo week. Though we agreed to wait to celebrate until after finals and once were are in NYC, Skyler still took the time to make today a little extra special. First, I woke up to a sweet kiss at 12am this morning and Skyler's soft voice telling me how much I mean to him. Definitely sweet, especially because he didn't expect me to wake up. Then today Skyler went through the effort of stopping by Wegman's (thanks Dillon) and getting flowers and shrimp. Always a winner.

Last but not least by any means, Skyler took the time to help me get everything ready to print my thesis and have it ready for binding first thing tomorrow morning. That is very kind considering how little time he has right now.

If you are tired of the mush, don't bother to read on.

Skyler, you are the love of my life. You are my second half and help me to be one of the happiest people. You are always doing whatever you can to assist me in all of my pursuits, academic or recreational. You show me what it means to be selfless. I hope you know that I look forward to many more years to come and so many more wonderful memories. Love, Your SMT

Spring in Ithaca...

I am in love with Ithaca again. During the winter, I can have mixed feelings toward the area, but in the Spring I just can't get enough. I can't wait for our families to come out here and see why they should come and live on the east coast.

This week was a decent week. I am back into the swing of things at my placement (17 days left!) and Skyler finished up his classes. Now Skyler is in the intense stage of law school--FINALS! I am sure he will do well, but he will be putting in a lot of long days studying. I have my solo weeks the next two weeks. It should be fun!

Yesterday I went to an Enrichment activity where the Oh-So-Talented Melissa gave a lesson on photography. Today, to celebrate having actually looked at my camera manual for the first time, I went outside and took a few pictures. I hope you all love the beautiful landscape and have the urge to fly and visit us...if you aren't country folk, you can visit us in 3 weeks when we are in NYC!

This is for Chels...don't you love this barn?! You could do some beautiful art with this backdrop.

I love funky trees.

This one is for Cassie, she made a special request.

A beautiful barrel of hay and a bit of sunset.

Me fiddling with how to set things in and out of focus.

Night out...

We were able to go the the law school's Barrister Ball. It is pretty much an excuse for all the law students to get drunk and crazy. For us it was an excuse to go out with Mel and Gary and enjoy dancing. Skyler has been trying to get me to go to a dance/formal since we have known each other, so it was fun to finally go. It was easier knowing that I wouldn't look any more stupid than the people around me.

We had a great time. Mel and I went shopping for her dress on Friday and then got ready together Saturday night. It was nice to spend some time together and enjoy getting dolled up. We looked quite nice, if I dare say so :)

Dancing was fun, and, though I might have looked a little reserved, it was the most "outgoing" I have been at a dance--in relation to the dancing. It is always nice to go out and know that you will have fun no matter what because you are in good company. It was quite a late night and we had our own "hangover"--we really struggled to wake up in the morning--but it was worth it!

Spring...

To celebrate the coming of Spring and the new Science unit (Plants) I am teaching...I thought I might do a little revamping.

Nothing new to really post. The good news here is that my thesis is now off to the second reader...so cross your fingers. I am hopeful that it will turn out well.

Skyler had the day off and played with a friend all morning/afternoon. It is always fun for him to get a little guy time just like it is for me to get my girl time.
