November 2nd marked Skyler's first official day of work for a judge in Portland. He is loving it and enjoying contributing to the legal world as his waits out his deferment from his NYC firm.
November 5th was the first day of fun. I turned 25. That might sound young to some and old to others. You can take your pick. I can't seem to decide what I think about it all. The best news of the day was that Skyler passed the NY State Bar. We are all thrilled--not surprised in the least--but very grateful to have a success story and enjoy the celebration.
November 7th started a mass amount of remodeling by taking out the carpet and putting in laminate wood flooring in the living room and entry of my parents' home. My sister and I also decided to tear down a wall that day--we were feeling ambitious!
November 13th: still enjoying the DIY projects, I coaxed my parents into letting us rip apart the kitchen and tear down another wall. I think living in an apartment for 3 years has left me with some repressed ambitions that I have decided to unleash! We are still knee-deep in this project and enjoying the challenge and spending most evenings organizing and attacking the next portion of the job. Up for this week is lighting and tile.November 19th and 20th were field-trip days for me and Savannah. We enjoyed lunch with friends on Thursday. Friday we went to visit my mom at work and enjoyed lunch with my dad. We are loving the time we get to spend with family.
November 26th my mom and I hosted Thanksgiving with our nearby family. Despite a mangled kitchen, it was fun to cook side-by-side with my mom again. The food was delicious and the company delightful.
November 27th & 28th--we started the holiday fun: family Christmas photos and shopping galore! We love this time of year! If only it would snow . . . .
And of course I spend each day playing with and teaching Savannah. I love watching her learn the thrills of this exciting world. Her latest is rolling over and mimicking my sounds (she loves it when I sneeze). She continues to brighten our days and add more fun to the mix.
