Savvy turns 3...

Savannah is 3!  She was a blast as a two-year-old and we are so excited for her to be three!  She is ready to play with the big kids and have a little more responsibility.  Becoming a big sister certainly kick-started the role of being even more of a helper and she has done a wonderful job.  Savvy was so excited to be three and receive a bicycle from Mommy & Daddy.

Also, who wouldn't want to be three if it meant you had three birthday parties?!  We celebrated with the Tanner family when they came at the beginning of the month, again with our family, and then a third time with some of the Larsen family.  Needless to say, she was spoiled and thrilled to have the attention.  We were thrilled for her to have it as we would hate for her to feel lost in the chaos as we learn to balance two kiddos.

Savvy was so excited for her birthday she now thinks any and all gifts/parties are birthdays.  She was very grateful for all of the love and often refers to the birthday parties she enjoyed as we read her "How Do Dinosaurs Say Happy Birthday."

Still trying to master blowing out all the candles at once...

She certainly knows to lick the frosting first though!

Blessing...

Summer was blessed on July 1st in our home ward.  We were thrilled to have so much of our family in town for the blessing.  Skyler's entire family and grandparents even made the long drive from Utah.  It meant a great deal to us to have so many loved ones there for the special event.

Summer Margaret, blessing day, 3.5 weeks old

In our religion a blessing is similar to a christening in that the baby is given a name and a sacred prayer is offered for the child to be blessed with gifts and a beautiful life.  Skyler offered the blessing and it was perfect for our sweet girl.  One of the key points was that she would be a confident, cheerful, and healthy contributor in her family and society.  She has seemed so cheerful and outgoing from the beginning and I know she will share this with many people throughout her life and change their lives as she does so.  We are grateful to be her family and enjoy and share love with her every day.

My mom, Grandma Larsen, made Summer's blessing dress as a special gift.  The dress was made with the fabric from my mom's wedding dress.  I played dress-up and imagined my wedding day many-a-times in that dress and was so excited to have the dress be something special for Summer.

My mom and I "designed" the dress by playing with the fabric on the living room floor.
My mom is so talented that she just put it all together without a pattern.  She is amazing!
